A simple Guide for Construction Fencing installation

If you’re considering installing temporary fencing panels, this step-by-step guide will show you how to quickly set up a stable and secure enclosure. With the right tools and techniques, you can easily install construction fencing that will keep your area safe and contained.

Tools You’ll Need for Installing Temporary Fencing Panels

Before you begin, gather the following tools to make the installation process smoother:

  • Shifting spanner or impact driver with a 16mm socket
  • Safety gloves to protect your hands
  • Rubber mallet for tapping panels into place
  • Measuring tape for accurate placement
  • Wrench set (optional)
  • Wire cutters or pliers (if using wire ties for additional stability)

Step-by-Step Guide to Installing Temporary Fencing Panels

Step 1: Prepare Your Area and Materials
Before installation, ensure you have enough temporary fencing panels, stands, top connectors, and any accessories you plan to use (such as sandbags or security clamps). Clear the area where you plan to install your fencing panels.

Step 2: Place the First Stand
Start by positioning the first stand at the beginning of your fence line. This will serve as the base for your first construction fencing panel. Make sure the stand is stable on the surface.

Step 3: Position the Second Stand
Place the second stand 9.5 feet away from the first stand in the direction you want your fence to run. This spacing ensures the temporary fencing panels are securely supported.

Step 4: Attach the First Temporary Fencing Panel
Pick up the first fence panel and place the bottom of the vertical frame (the end with the 2-inch leg) on top of the first stand. Repeat this at the other end of the panel on the second stand. Ensure the panel is aligned correctly and securely positioned.

Step 5: Install the Top Connector
Insert the top connector into the opening at the top of the vertical frame. The top connector will keep the panels aligned and prevent them from leaning. If you’re using a square pin for the stand, insert the square pin into the top connector; for a round pin, use the round pin.

Step 6: Position the Third Stand
Place a third stand approximately 9.5 feet from the second stand. This stand will support the next section of fencing panels.

Step 7: Attach the Second Temporary Fencing Panel
Pick up the next fence panel and position it so the bottom of the vertical frame sits securely on the pin of the second stand. If the panel needs to be angled, use the round pin as this allows for better flexibility in positioning the panel.

Step 8: Secure the Top Connector
Lift the top connector from the previous step and attach it to the top of the second fence panel, securing the panels together. This ensures both panels are aligned and stable.

Step 9: Repeat for Additional Panels
Continue installing additional stands and temporary fencing panels in the same manner. As you add each panel, be sure to install the top connector to keep the panels securely in place. If needed, install a perpendicular panel every 8-10 sections for additional stability, especially in windy areas.

Step 10: Finalize the Enclosure
To complete your fence, insert the final panel into the unused pin of the first stand. Ensure everything is securely in place and check the alignment of the panels for a tight, stable structure.

Stability and Security: Keeping Panels in Place

Wind and rough conditions can be a real challenge – especially in Canada. Here are a few pro tips for keeping your panels up, no matter the weather:

  • Extra Panels for Stability: Many companies add extra panels perpendicular to the main fence line to reduce wind damage. This strategy helps prevent panels from tipping over, especially in high-wind areas.
  •    materials like steel, they prevent tipping, shifting, and separation, enhancing wind resistance and stability, especially in high-wind conditions or areas with heavy foot traffic.

By following these 10 steps and using optional accessories for added stability, you can quickly set up construction fencing that will keep your site secure and organized.

Ensure proper panel alignment and use the right tools to keep your temporary fencing standing up to the elements and provide reliable protection. Whether you need it for a short-term project or a more permanent enclosure, this guide makes the installation process easy and hassle-free.
